  • Good Movie: The Order: 1886 would be a fantastic movie (or better yet: mini-series). The pace of story, camera work, voice acting, and plot twists are excellent. It kept me engaged right until the end; where I threw my controller due to the cliffhanger.

  • Great Tech Demo:  This game is easily one of the best looking on the system (until the witcher hits in ~2 weeks). The character models, textures, and even the paper looks real (Dude, that fucking paper). Console Devs, if you want your game to look pretty, use PS4 (That wasn’t a unity based game ;P).

  • Bad Game: Ah, Here is the big problem with this game. it kinda isn’t a game. It a great story turned into a tech demo. The game feels like someone decided to make a Steampunk- kojima inspired - Watch Um up with guns. To give you an idea...here is the game play of each “Chapter”

  1. Watch Cut Screen
  2. Walk thru a spooky corridor
  3. Look for items
  4. Look at item
  5. Shoot dudes (or half breeds)
  6. interactive “God of war” style cuts screen
  7. Watch cut screens
  8. Interactive “God of war” style cut screen

As you can see, there is only a little bit of shooting things (aka fun) and a lot watching or looking for things. In my 5.6 hour play through, I only spent 1.5 hours walking around or shooting things.  So, I am only really playing for 1.5 hours at $60, which is crazy - but the story is good.

My advice? Don’t waste your playtime - watch the “movie” and pretend to play - Enjoy!
